In the latest New Zealand Medical Association Journal (May 2013) surgeon Philip Bird has an interesting editorial on New Zealand’s cochlear implant programmes. Mr Bird is a trustee of the Southern Hearing Charitable Trust and Cochlear Implant Surgeon.

With the surgeons making statements like this, we have to wonder how long the Ministry of Health and Minister Ryall will continue to hold to their position that one is enough?
