Today Emily Robinson had surgery to get her second Cochlear Implant.
Emily is a little trooper – having gone through heart surgery and now two Cochlear Implant operations in her short life so far. Her surgeries have been great successes. Her hearing from her first Cochlear Implant is excellent and her language is developing really well.
Emily becomes the 12th 2 ears kid in the greater Wellington region (Kapiti Coast, Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa). There are 27 children (under 18 years old) with Cochlear Implants in this region. 44% of them have 2 ears which is substantially above the national average of 16%.
We congratulation Ed and Corina (and their team of supporters) for their efforts to give Emily the best possible opportunity to hear with 2 ears.
