The Southern Cochlear Implant Programme announced earlier this year that it was looking to establish a permanent paediatric therapy presence in Wellington. This week they announced the acquisition of premises and the appointment of the Wellington based habilitationist.
The new service will be based out of rooms at 65 Waterloo Road in Lower Hutt.
Lisa Fawcett, a speech-language therapist currently with the Ministry of Education (Special Education) in Lower Hutt, has been appointed to the position of Habilitationist in the new service. Lisa is originally from Northern Ireland and has a wealth of experience working with children both here and in the UK.
A Q&A session will be held at the new facility at 4pm 5th December for all those interested in this development.
The service is scheduled to start in February 2013.
